Insect Specie
Insect species identification is a crucial area of research, driven by the urgent need to monitor biodiversity loss and improve agricultural practices. Current efforts focus on developing automated image-based classification systems using deep learning models, such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs) like ResNet and MobileNet, and more recently, transformer-based architectures, to analyze large datasets from camera traps and citizen science initiatives. These advancements aim to overcome challenges like high inter-species similarity and imbalanced datasets, ultimately enabling efficient, large-scale insect monitoring and contributing to improved ecological understanding and pest management strategies.
