Inter Aural

Interaural research focuses on understanding how differences in sound arrival time, level, and phase between the two ears (interaural time, level, and phase differences, or ITD, ILD, and IPD) contribute to sound localization and perception. Current research emphasizes developing and refining models, often employing neural networks, to accurately represent and utilize these interaural cues for improved binaural sound processing in applications like virtual and augmented reality, and for enhancing target sound extraction from noisy environments. This work is significant for advancing our understanding of human auditory processing and for improving the realism and quality of spatial audio technologies.
