Internet Slang
Internet slang, characterized by its rapid evolution and diverse regional/community variations, presents a significant challenge for natural language processing (NLP). Current research focuses on improving large language models' (LLMs) ability to detect, interpret, and generate slang, employing techniques like fine-tuning on specialized datasets and incorporating causal inference to understand contextual meaning. These advancements are crucial for improving various NLP applications, including sentiment analysis, machine translation, and the development of more human-like AI systems capable of understanding and interacting with informal online communication.
