Intra Byte

Intra-byte analysis focuses on extracting information from the individual bits within bytes of binary data, going beyond traditional methods that only consider bytes as whole units. Current research employs techniques like clustering algorithms, novel data types (e.g., eXmY for quantization), and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) applied to byte-to-image transformations to analyze intra-byte patterns. This detailed analysis improves the accuracy of tasks such as reverse-engineering communication protocols (like CAN bus messages), classifying file fragments in cybersecurity, and identifying instruction set architectures in binary code, ultimately enhancing security and efficiency in various applications.
