Ionic Liquid

Ionic liquids (ILs) are salts that are liquid at room temperature, offering unique properties for various applications, particularly in sustainable chemistry. Current research heavily focuses on accurately predicting IL properties, such as CO2 absorption and solute activity coefficients, using machine learning models, especially graph neural networks (GNNs), which excel at capturing the complex relationships between molecular structure and properties. These predictive models are crucial for accelerating the design of ILs with tailored characteristics for applications like carbon capture and improved chemical processes, thereby reducing the reliance on costly and time-consuming experimental methods.
