Iris Localization
Iris localization, the process of accurately identifying the iris region in an eye image, is crucial for iris recognition systems used in security and authentication. Recent research emphasizes developing faster and more robust localization methods, moving away from computationally expensive segmentation-based approaches towards direct localization techniques using neural networks or hybrid methods combining filters (like Laplacian of Gaussian) with region growing algorithms. These advancements aim to improve the speed and accuracy of iris recognition, particularly in challenging conditions with noise or poor image quality, ultimately enhancing the reliability and efficiency of biometric authentication systems.
