Korean Ancient Document
Research on ancient Korean documents focuses on overcoming the challenges posed by their unique characteristics, such as the absence of punctuation and spacing in Hanja (classical Chinese characters), to enable accurate translation and analysis. Current efforts leverage machine learning, employing models like BERT and Transformers, along with statistical methods like phrase alignment, to improve translation accuracy and develop tools for automated punctuation and spacing restoration. These advancements are significant for historical research, facilitating faster and more efficient analysis of these valuable historical records and making them more accessible to a wider audience.
