Lamarckian System
Lamarckian inheritance, the idea that acquired traits can be passed to offspring, is being re-examined through the lens of evolutionary robotics. Current research focuses on comparing Lamarckian and Darwinian evolutionary models in simulated and physical robots, investigating how incorporating learned behaviors into inheritance affects adaptation speed and efficiency across diverse environments. Studies consistently show advantages for Lamarckian systems, particularly in complex or dynamic scenarios, highlighting the potential for improved robot design and control algorithms. This work offers valuable insights into evolutionary processes and has implications for developing more adaptable and robust autonomous systems.
