Language Assessment
Language assessment research focuses on developing automated and efficient methods for evaluating language abilities, particularly for diagnosing and monitoring conditions like dementia and other neurogenic communication disorders. Current efforts leverage machine learning, including techniques like adaptive testing (e.g., using Item Response Theory) and geometric deep learning applied to neuroimaging data, to analyze both spoken and written language, improving accuracy and reducing the need for extensive data. These advancements promise to streamline clinical workflows, enhance diagnostic accuracy, and ultimately improve patient care by providing faster, more accessible, and potentially more objective assessments.
