Language Community

Language community research investigates how language use varies across groups, focusing on factors like geographic location, time, and social context. Current research employs transformer-based models and mixture-of-experts architectures to address challenges in low-resource language translation, code-switching speech recognition, and cross-lingual toxicity detection. This work is crucial for developing inclusive natural language processing technologies, improving cross-cultural communication, and understanding the dynamics of language evolution and change within and between communities. The ultimate goal is to create more equitable and representative language technologies that serve diverse populations.
