Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery, a minimally invasive surgical technique, aims to improve patient outcomes through smaller incisions and reduced trauma. Current research heavily focuses on enhancing the precision and safety of these procedures using computer vision, employing techniques like neural radiance fields (NeRFs) for 3D scene reconstruction, transformers for surgical phase recognition and action prediction, and self-supervised learning for improving image quality (e.g., desmoking). These advancements are driving the development of computer-assisted interventions, including robotic surgery and augmented reality systems, ultimately improving surgical training, intraoperative guidance, and patient care.
