Laser Network

Laser networks are being explored as novel photonic accelerators for computationally intensive tasks, particularly in machine learning. Current research focuses on leveraging the collective dynamics of coupled lasers, often exhibiting chaotic synchronization, to solve problems like the competitive multi-armed bandit, a key challenge in multi-agent reinforcement learning. These approaches utilize various network architectures, including those based on Mach-Zehnder interferometers, to achieve efficient and potentially energy-saving computation, addressing limitations of traditional electronic systems. The potential impact lies in developing faster, more energy-efficient hardware for machine learning and other demanding applications.
