Laser Reliability
Laser reliability research focuses on improving the lifespan and performance of lasers, primarily through advanced predictive maintenance and enhanced robustness against failures. Current efforts leverage machine learning, employing models like variational autoencoders and recurrent neural networks (e.g., LSTMs) to analyze operational data, predict degradation, and identify failure modes with high accuracy, surpassing traditional methods. These advancements are crucial for optimizing laser manufacturing, reducing costs associated with testing and downtime, and ensuring the reliable operation of lasers in diverse applications, including optical communication networks and industrial processes.
