Learning Depth
Learning depth, the process of estimating distances from images or videos, is a crucial area of computer vision research aiming to enable machines to perceive 3D scenes from 2D data. Current research focuses on improving depth estimation accuracy and robustness using various techniques, including generative adversarial networks (GANs), neural radiance fields (NeRFs), and incorporating segmentation and other modalities like RGB information to refine depth maps. These advancements are significantly impacting applications such as autonomous navigation, 3D scene reconstruction, and robotic manipulation by providing more reliable and accurate depth information for decision-making.
