Legible Motion
Legible motion in robotics focuses on designing robot movements that are easily understood and predictable by humans, enhancing safety and collaboration. Current research emphasizes developing motion planning algorithms, often incorporating potential field methods or cost-based approaches, to generate intuitive robot trajectories, particularly within complex, cluttered environments. This work is crucial for improving human-robot interaction, particularly in collaborative tasks, by reducing user anxiety and increasing the acceptance of robots in shared workspaces. Studies are increasingly investigating the impact of robot motion characteristics, such as speed and workspace overlap, on user comfort and habituation.
