Lexical Processing
Lexical processing investigates how individuals understand and process individual words, a fundamental aspect of language comprehension. Current research focuses on modeling the influence of word frequency on processing speed and accuracy, using computational models like linear discriminative learning and incorporating top-down lexical knowledge into acoustic word embedding models. These efforts aim to improve our understanding of the mental lexicon and its dynamic nature, informing both cognitive models of language and the development of more robust natural language processing systems. Furthermore, integrating models of lexical processing with other aspects of language comprehension, such as sentence processing and eye movements, is a growing area of interest.
