Lexico-semantic research focuses on computational representation and analysis of word meaning and relationships, aiming to improve natural language processing (NLP) applications. Current efforts concentrate on enhancing existing lexical resources like WordNets, improving word sense disambiguation (WSD) models using semantic features and neural networks (e.g., incorporating WordNet and contextualized embeddings), and developing methods to automatically acquire and refine lexical knowledge, including using large language models (LLMs). These advancements are crucial for improving multilingual NLP, cross-lingual tasks, and knowledge-based systems by providing more accurate and comprehensive representations of language.
