LiDAR Based Localization
LiDAR-based localization aims to accurately determine a robot or vehicle's position and orientation using 3D point cloud data from LiDAR sensors. Current research emphasizes improving robustness and efficiency, focusing on techniques like deep learning (e.g., transformers, convolutional neural networks) for feature extraction and pose estimation, as well as incorporating constraints from other sensors (e.g., cameras, IMUs) or prior maps (e.g., floor plans, HD maps) to enhance accuracy and handle challenging environments. This field is crucial for autonomous navigation and mapping applications, particularly in GPS-denied or visually ambiguous settings, driving advancements in robotics, autonomous driving, and other related fields.
