Light Curve

A light curve is a graph showing the variation in brightness of a celestial object over time, primarily used to study various astronomical phenomena. Current research focuses on leveraging machine learning, particularly deep learning models like convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transformers, to analyze light curves for tasks such as exoplanet detection, stellar classification, and characterizing stellar properties (e.g., rotation periods, surface gravity). These advanced techniques improve the accuracy and efficiency of analysis compared to traditional methods, enabling astronomers to extract more information from increasingly large datasets and facilitating discoveries in diverse areas like exoplanet research and asteroseismology.
