Linguistic Diversity
Linguistic diversity research investigates the vast range of human languages and their impact on technology and society, aiming to understand and preserve this crucial aspect of human culture. Current research focuses on mitigating biases in large language models (LLMs) and developing methods to improve their performance across diverse languages, often employing techniques like self-supervised learning and contrastive learning to analyze speech and text data. This work is significant for advancing natural language processing (NLP) capabilities, promoting inclusivity in AI, and supporting the documentation and revitalization of endangered languages.
