Logical Fallacy
Logical fallacies are flaws in reasoning that undermine the validity of arguments, and their automatic detection is a growing area of research crucial for combating misinformation. Current research focuses on developing and evaluating machine learning models, particularly large language models (LLMs) and other architectures, trained on datasets of fallacious and valid arguments to improve accuracy and explainability in identifying various fallacy types. This work has significant implications for fact-checking, argumentation analysis, and the broader fight against the spread of misinformation across various domains, including health and climate science.
