Logical Inference
Logical inference, the process of deriving conclusions from premises, is a core area of research aiming to understand and replicate human reasoning abilities in artificial intelligence. Current research focuses on bridging the gap between human limitations in logical reasoning and the capabilities of advanced models like large language models (LLMs) and neural networks, exploring approaches such as neurosymbolic integration (combining LLMs with symbolic provers) and analyzing the symbolic concepts encoded within LLMs to improve their inference accuracy and explainability. These advancements have implications for various fields, including improving AI systems' reliability and transparency, enhancing human-computer interaction, and advancing our understanding of the cognitive processes underlying human reasoning.
