Machine Psychology
Machine psychology is an emerging field applying psychological methods and theories to investigate the cognitive and behavioral characteristics of large language models (LLMs). Current research focuses on adapting psychometric benchmarks to assess LLMs across dimensions like personality, morality, and executive function, often using established models such as GPT and similar architectures. This work aims to provide a more nuanced understanding of LLMs' capabilities and limitations, informing the responsible development and deployment of AI systems and contributing to both AI and psychological research. The insights gained are crucial for addressing ethical concerns and improving human-AI interaction.
