Marching Cube
Marching cubes is a fundamental algorithm for reconstructing 3D surfaces from volumetric data, primarily distance fields. Current research focuses on improving the robustness and efficiency of marching cubes, particularly for handling unsigned distance fields representing non-watertight surfaces and incorporating deep learning for faster and more accurate surface extraction. These advancements are enabling more efficient 3D modeling in various applications, including computer vision, robotics, and scientific visualization, by providing improved methods for generating high-quality meshes from diverse data sources. The development of differentiable marching cubes algorithms further facilitates integration with differentiable rendering and optimization pipelines.
