Mass Damper
Mass dampers are systems designed to mitigate vibrations in structures or mechanical systems, primarily by absorbing kinetic energy. Current research focuses on improving the design and control of these dampers, employing advanced modeling techniques such as physics-informed neural networks, port-Hamiltonian systems, and graph neural networks to optimize their performance and predict their behavior in complex scenarios. These advancements are significant for enhancing the resilience of structures against earthquakes and improving the efficiency and control of various mechanical systems, ranging from building structures to robotic vehicles and even biological systems like the human meniscus.
