Mental Fatigue
Mental fatigue, a state of reduced cognitive capacity impacting performance and well-being, is a growing area of research focusing on reliable detection and mitigation. Current efforts utilize diverse methods, including electroencephalography (EEG) and vision-based analysis of facial expressions and body movements, often incorporating machine learning models like recurrent video transformers and Bayesian Gaussian processes to analyze physiological and behavioral data. Improved detection of mental fatigue holds significant promise for enhancing safety in various domains (e.g., driving, healthcare) and optimizing productivity in workplaces and educational settings by enabling timely interventions.
