Microphone Array
Microphone arrays are collections of microphones used to enhance audio capture and processing by exploiting spatial information. Current research focuses on improving direction-of-arrival estimation in challenging acoustic environments using advanced algorithms like modified LSDD and SRP-PHAT, as well as deep learning models such as convolutional recurrent networks and attention-based beamformers, often incorporating techniques like beamforming and independent vector analysis. These advancements are significant for applications ranging from robust speech recognition in noisy settings (e.g., smart glasses, vehicles) to high-fidelity audio recording and spatial audio reproduction in virtual and augmented reality.
