Mind Reasoning
Mind reasoning research centers on understanding how humans and artificial intelligence (AI) models reason about mental states, including beliefs, intentions, and desires—a capacity known as Theory of Mind (ToM). Current research focuses on benchmarking and improving ToM capabilities in large language models (LLMs) through techniques like fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and integration with external symbolic reasoning systems. This work is significant because enhanced ToM in AI could lead to more sophisticated and human-like interactions in various applications, while also providing insights into the cognitive mechanisms underlying human reasoning.
