Mobile Ground
Mobile ground robotics research focuses on developing autonomous robots capable of navigating and performing tasks in diverse and challenging terrains, ranging from agricultural fields to extraterrestrial environments. Current efforts concentrate on improving robot localization and mapping accuracy using techniques like signed distance fields, sensor fusion (LiDAR, cameras, GNSS), and deep reinforcement learning for mapless navigation. These advancements are crucial for applications in precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, search and rescue, and planetary exploration, enabling efficient data collection, autonomous operation, and enhanced situational awareness in complex settings.
