Monocular Camera
Monocular camera research centers on extracting three-dimensional information from single-camera images, aiming to overcome the limitations of relying solely on expensive multi-sensor systems. Current efforts focus on improving depth estimation accuracy and robustness using techniques like neural radiance fields (NeRFs), Kalman filtering, and fusion with other sensor modalities (e.g., LiDAR, IMU). These advancements are driving progress in various applications, including autonomous navigation (especially for small robots and UAVs), 3D scene reconstruction, and augmented/virtual reality, by enabling more affordable and versatile solutions.
