Moral Responsibility
Moral responsibility, particularly in the context of increasingly autonomous AI systems, is a burgeoning area of research focusing on establishing clear lines of accountability for actions and outcomes. Current investigations explore the allocation of responsibility across various stakeholders in the AI lifecycle, considering factors like foreseeable consequences and cultural contexts, and propose frameworks for assigning degrees of responsibility based on causal and epistemic conditions. This work is crucial for developing ethical guidelines and practical mechanisms for mitigating harm caused by AI, impacting fields ranging from conflict resolution and workplace safety to economic models and the design of culturally sensitive AI systems.
