Moral Theory
Moral theory research explores the computational modeling and application of ethical frameworks, aiming to understand and implement moral reasoning in artificial agents and analyze moral judgments in human-generated text. Current research focuses on developing and applying various ethical theories (e.g., deontology, utilitarianism) within machine learning models, often using large language models and reinforcement learning to learn moral principles from data or explicitly encode them. This work has significant implications for AI safety and fairness, informing the design of ethical AI systems and providing tools for analyzing moral biases in media and online discourse.
