Multilingual Text Recognition
Multilingual text recognition (MTR) aims to automatically identify and transcribe text from images across multiple languages, overcoming the limitations of single-language OCR systems. Current research focuses on improving model adaptability to new languages, exploring techniques like transfer learning and incremental learning with architectures such as transformer-based models and specialized routing networks to handle diverse scripts and data distributions efficiently. These advancements are crucial for bridging language barriers in document processing, enabling broader access to information and facilitating cross-lingual communication in various applications, including historical document digitization and real-time translation.
