Multiple Signal Classification
Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) is a widely used algorithm for estimating the direction of arrival (DOA) of multiple signals, crucial in applications like radar and medical imaging. Current research focuses on improving MUSIC's efficiency and accuracy, particularly through the development of sparse array architectures and algorithms like Generalized Coarray MUSIC (GCA-MUSIC) that leverage subarrays to enhance DOA estimation capabilities beyond the number of physical sensors. These advancements address the computational cost of MUSIC, for example through approximate computing techniques, enabling its deployment in resource-constrained environments while maintaining acceptable accuracy. The resulting improvements in both performance and efficiency significantly broaden the applicability of MUSIC across various fields.
