Nano Quadrotor
Nano quadrotors, miniature drones weighing under 50 grams, are the focus of intense research aimed at enabling autonomous flight and complex tasks in constrained environments. Current research emphasizes developing onboard, low-power algorithms for perception and control, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for visual processing and nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) for precise trajectory tracking, often leveraging specialized low-power processors like the GAP8. These advancements are significant because they enable the use of these small, agile robots in applications such as inspection, surveillance, and collaborative tasks where larger drones are impractical or unsafe.
