Nano Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

Nano Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (nUAVs) are miniature drones, typically sub-10cm in size, designed for autonomous operation in close proximity to humans and confined spaces. Current research emphasizes developing efficient onboard computing, including specialized low-power System-on-Chips (SoCs) and optimized neural network architectures for tasks like visual pose estimation and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), often utilizing algorithms like iterative closest point and dynamic coverage. These advancements enable capabilities such as autonomous navigation, swarm coordination, and precise perching, with significant implications for applications ranging from indoor inspection and surveillance to collaborative robotics.
