Narrative Extraction
Narrative extraction focuses on automatically identifying and structuring story-like sequences from textual data, aiming to understand how events unfold and their causal relationships. Current research emphasizes using large language models (LLMs) and other natural language processing (NLP) techniques to extract both micro-narratives (sentence-level causal explanations) and macro-narratives (broader thematic storylines) from diverse sources like news articles and social media. This field is significant for its potential to improve social science research, economic forecasting, and media analysis by providing computational tools for analyzing large-scale textual data and uncovering hidden patterns in narrative structures.
