Narrative Pattern
Narrative pattern research investigates the recurring structures and themes within narratives across diverse media, aiming to understand how these patterns shape meaning and audience experience. Current research employs techniques like topic modeling (e.g., BERTopic) and contrastive learning, often incorporating multimodal analysis to integrate textual and visual data, to identify common narrative schemas and deviations within specific corpora (e.g., Holocaust testimonies, medical reports, comics). This work contributes to fields like digital humanities, media studies, and medical informatics by providing tools for automated analysis of large narrative datasets, revealing insights into cultural trends, individual experiences, and improving information retrieval.
