Necrosis Ratio

Necrosis ratio, the proportion of dead tissue within a tumor, is a crucial biomarker for assessing treatment response and predicting patient outcomes in various cancers. Current research focuses on developing objective and reproducible methods for measuring necrosis ratio, particularly using deep learning models applied to digital pathology images to overcome the limitations of manual assessment. Accurate necrosis ratio quantification improves the prediction of survival and progression-free survival, aiding in personalized treatment strategies and ultimately enhancing patient care. This work is particularly important in cancers like osteosarcoma and glioblastoma, where treatment response is heterogeneous and accurate assessment is challenging.
