Network Function
Network function optimization focuses on efficiently deploying and managing virtualized network functions (VNFs) to meet service demands while minimizing resource consumption and latency. Current research heavily utilizes reinforcement learning (RL), often in multi-agent or multi-objective frameworks, coupled with graph neural networks (GNNs) for improved resource allocation and service function chaining (SFC) management. These advancements aim to improve the scalability, adaptability, and cost-effectiveness of network infrastructure, particularly in emerging areas like 5G/6G and edge computing, impacting both operational efficiency and the quality of service delivered to end-users. The use of auctions and fairness-guaranteed mechanisms is also explored to manage resource allocation in multi-tenant environments.
