Neural Oscillation
Neural oscillations, rhythmic fluctuations in brain activity, are a key focus of neuroscience research aiming to understand their role in information processing, communication, and pathological conditions. Current research utilizes diverse computational models, including deep latent variable models, spiking neural networks, and coupled oscillator networks (like central pattern generators), to analyze and predict neural oscillations from various physiological signals (EEG, MEG). These studies are revealing the importance of neural oscillations in cognitive functions like speech perception and memory, as well as their potential as biomarkers for neurological disorders like epilepsy, paving the way for novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
