Neuron Astrocyte
Neuron-astrocyte interactions are a burgeoning area of research focusing on integrating the traditionally overlooked role of astrocytes (glial brain cells) into neural network models. Current efforts concentrate on developing biologically-inspired computational models, including spiking neural networks (SNNs) augmented with astrocyte-based mechanisms for functions like plasticity, self-repair, and fault tolerance, often implemented using neuromorphic hardware. This research aims to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and robustness of artificial neural networks by incorporating the dynamic regulatory functions of astrocytes, potentially leading to advancements in neuromorphic computing and a deeper understanding of brain function.
