Neuron Tracing
Neuron tracing aims to reconstruct the intricate three-dimensional structures of neurons from microscopy images, a crucial task for understanding brain function. Current research focuses on developing faster and more accurate algorithms, including those leveraging deep learning for image segmentation and connectivity prediction, as well as novel approaches that require minimal or no prior training. These advancements are driven by the need to analyze increasingly large and complex datasets, such as those generated by voltage imaging and electron microscopy, and are improving the efficiency and accuracy of brain mapping efforts. Ultimately, improved neuron tracing techniques will accelerate neuroscience research and enhance our understanding of neural circuits and diseases.
