Non Terrestrial Network
Non-terrestrial networks (NTNs), integrating satellites and high-altitude platforms with terrestrial networks, aim to expand communication coverage and reliability, particularly in underserved areas like rural regions and maritime environments. Current research focuses on optimizing NTN integration through machine learning techniques, including generative models for improved signal estimation and distributed learning algorithms like federated and split learning to enhance efficiency and address resource constraints in applications such as intelligent transportation systems. This research is significant for bridging the digital divide, improving the efficiency and sustainability of various industries (e.g., maritime), and advancing the capabilities of next-generation (6G) communication systems.
