Nonverbal Communication
Nonverbal communication research focuses on understanding and modeling how humans convey information through non-linguistic cues like facial expressions, gestures, gaze, and vocalics. Current research emphasizes computational analysis of multimodal data using machine learning models, including deep learning architectures like LSTMs and generative adversarial networks, to predict engagement, infer beliefs, and design more intuitive human-robot interaction. This work is significant for advancing our understanding of human social interaction and has practical implications for improving human-computer interaction, educational technologies, and the design of more socially adept robots.
