Novel Coronavirus

The novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and the resulting COVID-19 disease spurred intense research focused on rapid and accurate diagnosis, prognosis, and pandemic management. Current research heavily utilizes artificial intelligence, particularly deep learning models like convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and long short-term memory (LSTM) networks, applied to medical imaging (chest X-rays, CT scans) and acoustic data (cough sounds) to improve diagnostic capabilities and predict disease progression. These AI-driven approaches aim to address limitations of traditional methods, such as RT-PCR testing, and improve healthcare resource allocation, particularly in resource-constrained settings. Furthermore, AI is being used to analyze the impact of the pandemic on various aspects of society, including mental health.
