Omnidirectional Robot
Omnidirectional robots, capable of moving in any direction without changing orientation, are a focus of robotics research driven by the need for agile and adaptable robots in diverse environments. Current research emphasizes improving navigation in crowded spaces using sensor fusion (combining LiDAR, tactile sensors, and cameras) and advanced control algorithms like deep reinforcement learning and admittance control for tasks such as obstacle avoidance, person following, and assistive mobility. These advancements are significant for applications ranging from elderly assistance and collaborative transportation to industrial manipulation and human-robot interaction, offering safer and more efficient robotic solutions.
