Omnidirectional Video
Omnidirectional video (ODV) research focuses on capturing and processing 360° video content, addressing challenges posed by its unique spherical geometry and high resolution. Current efforts concentrate on improving ODV quality through techniques like frame interpolation and super-resolution, enhancing user experience by predicting visual attention based on both audio and visual cues (often using U-Net architectures or vision transformers), and developing robust object tracking and segmentation methods within the spherical coordinate system. These advancements are crucial for improving the realism and usability of virtual and augmented reality applications, as well as for developing more effective quality assessment metrics for this increasingly prevalent media format.
