Ontology design focuses on creating structured representations of knowledge, enabling machines to understand and reason with information. Current research emphasizes automating ontology creation and improvement using large language models (LLMs) and techniques like retrieval augmented generation (RAG), often integrated with established data mining workflows. This work aims to reduce the time and expertise required for ontology development, impacting diverse fields by facilitating knowledge sharing, data integration, and the development of intelligent systems across domains like food science, manufacturing, and healthcare.
