Ontology Mediated Query
Ontology-mediated query (OMQ) answering aims to efficiently retrieve information from databases enriched with ontological knowledge, improving data access and interoperability. Current research focuses on developing efficient algorithms, such as seminaive materialization and automata-based techniques, for handling increasingly expressive query languages and ontology formalisms, including those based on existential rules and description logics. These advancements are crucial for managing large, heterogeneous datasets, particularly within data lakes, and for improving the scalability and performance of ontology-based applications in diverse domains.
